Last minute: On Wednesday, 4/23 I’ll be opening a wonderful show at Big Snow Buffalo Lodge (89 Varet St., Bushwick, Brooklyn) with OPPONENTS, Blue Sabbath Black Fiji and Cave Bears. Mmhmm.

I’ll be playing a solo Silent Isle set at Zebulon on Monday, May 28th at Zebulon, after solo guitarist Ryan Ferreira and before the Travis LaPlante trio (LaPlante, Gerald Cleaver, and Michael Formanek). I was lucky to catch an amazing performance by this trio at Zebulon this past winter, and can’t wait to vibe on their energy for this show! Please come out if you’re in the Brooklyn area – this will be a good one, and it will also be my premiere solo performance as a real live resident of New York City.

I’ll be touring as Silent Isle in April, and playing a few gigs outside of the tour. From April 26th-May 1st, I will be traveling with a duo from Toronto, Ontario called Not the Wind, Not the Flag (Colin Fisher & Brandon Valdivia), as one leg of their longer Northeast tour. Here are all of the upcoming dates that I am playing as Silent Isle (except for the one on April 21st at Tribes, which will be a duo with Russ Aldertone):

Hudson show

January 27, 2012

On Saturday, February 25, 2012, I’ll return to Hudson to play in a new DIY space at 99 S 3rd St., in the L&B Warehouse Building. It’ll be noisy and psychedelic. Pretty excited about this lineup:

It’s Not Night, It’s Space

Elephant Graveyard

Inflatable Sex Babies

& Silent Isle.

@ HANGRR 18, 99 S. 3RD ST., HUDSON, NY 12534

On January 5, 2012, I will be performing “Sylvan Pass” and “Light of Sirius” at the I/O Festival at Williams College in Williamstown, MA.

The I/O Fest is 3-day long fest curated in part by Matt Gold (TimeTable Percussion, Sequitur) that takes place at the college’s ’62 Center for Theater and Dance. My performance will close out the second program on the 5th, entitled “After Hours: Disquiet.” I am especially excited about this program because I will be playing directly after performances of works by Morton Feldman (“Why Patterns”) and David Lang – two of my very favorite composers – and just a few hours after performances of works by Lukas Ligeti and Nick Brooke, among others. I am quite honored to share my work on a program with the composers who have influenced me so profoundly! I hope that anyone remotely in the area can make it out. Admission is free!

Split w/ Belltonesuicide…

December 29, 2011

As mentioned in my last post, on tour this past December, I distributed copies of a split c90 with Belltonesuicide, entitled  Sylvan Pass/Debt Management (Gilded Throne Recordings #44). And now, you can download it online for free on my  bandcamp page! You can also order one of the remaining copies of the split that I have in my possession, for a very reasonable fee. But hey, check it out!:

Light of Sirius

December 22, 2011

Video of me performing “Light of Sirius” at Bennington College, taken by Julianne Lee on her phone. Sweet.

Happy birthday to me.

Silent Isle recently…

December 16, 2011

Moving to NYC in January.

Just wrapped up a short tour which was awesome and felt very long and full and good. Played with many wonderful friends new and old, ate many great meals and drove my car quite enough. Also distributed copies of a split c90 w/ Belltonesuicide on Gilded Throne Recordings, about which Nick Williams of Cave Bears/One Kind Favor wrote a kind review on Cassette Gods. Thxxxx Nick!

Will be doing a collaboration with Brian Dewan, Nick Perry (Head Womb) and possibly others for the Spotty Dog’s Second Annual Christmas Carol Bonanza on Sunday, December 19 in Hudson, NY at six pee em. Yes. We are playing Christmas songs. They may be obscure. They may be original. Or they may be very well-known. From the televisions. From the claymations. It’s going to be strange. So strange, that the only place we may belong afterwards… is the island… of misfit toys.

Shows, etc.

July 6, 2011

August 15th, 2011 – Silent Barn – Brooklyn, NY – Silent Isle w/ with Unicorns in the Snow, TBA.

August 21, 2011 – Popeye’s Garage – New Haven, CT – Silent Isle w/ C. Lavender

Enjoyed playing with Voder Deth Squad (the duo project of M. Geddes Gengras + Jeremy Kelly) and World Lines (the solo project of my roommate!, Logan Visscher) on June 24 – that show was archived on WGXC.org. Unfortunately, the recordings of World Lines and VDS sets are screwed up, but my set (last of the three) was recorded without problems. I think it starts around 01:03 in the file.

Summer Mummy is sleeping.

New collaborations, still under wraps, are taking place.

A 15-minute cassette and a CD-R of tunes recorded in an abandoned grain silo are on the way.

March 29, 2011

Two videos of Silent Isle on February 24, 2011 (or at least my silhouette and sounds) in the Swan Apartment at Bennington College.
